When the band comes together
Man they can never be wrong
They could play three chords forever
It’d be a hell of a song
Just riding the weather
‘Til a hurricane is born
When the band comes together
Man they can never be wrong
People living theirs
People making it strong
The guy who lives upstairs
Don’t like what’s going on
He moved to the city
To get some peace and quiet, aw
When the band comes together
Man they can never be wrong
So he waits for the hour
Calls in the uniforms
They say, ‘You all better whisper
And put a sock in that horn’
‘You can all stay and party
Just maybe put these mussels on’
When the band comes together
Man they can never be wrong
Another hollow room
Another desolate stage
Maybe soon some bright cafe
With some girl on a minimum wage
The guy who lives upstairs
Can pop down for a piece of cake
The place had been there for years
One guy is all that it takes
When the band comes together
Man they can never be wrong
They could play three chords forever
It’d be a hell of a song
Just riding the weather
‘Til that hurricane begins
When the band comes together
They come together again

Well To Fall
03:20
|
|
||
Up a tree two tear drop leaves
Would swing and sway
In the autumn breeze
High above the burning ground
One to another they were bound
Until one day one tear drop fell
No long goodbye
No sweet farewell
Just a song that can’t be sung
'Whats gone is gone
Whats done is done'
One lonesome leaf still swings and sways
But it knows that it ain’t the same
High above the burning ground
Looking up but looking down
And now one tear drop wells to fall
And oh to see that friend once more
But ain’t it just the way it goes
Where tear drops fall, no one knows

Lead You Back Home
04:26

I don’t wanna leave you sugar
I don’t wanna go
Don’t wanna leave those waters
Don’t wanna give up the gold
Don’t wanna look back baby
From out on the road
I wanna lead you back home
In the early morning
When the mind does roam
There’s a thousand reasons
To sink like a stone
Way down at the bottom
Of the great hollow
There’s one good answer
You simply gotta know
Should I leave you sugar?
Honey should I go?
Should I leave those waters?
Should I give up the gold?
Should I look back baby
From out on the road?
Or should I lead you back home?
Below the horizon
There’s a great blockade
Just waiting for that sun to try to get away
There’s an outlaw sitting
On a marshals grave
He’s kicking up the dust
Can’t you hear what he say?
I gotta leave you sugar
Oh I gotta go
I gotta leave those waters
I gotta give up the gold
I gotta look back baby
From out on the road
Still I wanna lead you back home
I wanna find out sugar
That you ain’t alone
I wanna give back to ya
The key to your room
You got a whole new battle
A brand new throne
Still I wanna lead you back home

Scene By Scene

I‘ve been scared of the truth
Though it pins my eye
I‘ve been near bullet proof
But the bullets won‘t die
I‘ve been afraid of the sun
Sticking close to the moon
I‘ve been arriving too late
And leaving too soon
There‘s a ship out of water
A drunk out of wine
A wheel out of order
And a step out of time
And it‘s a scene by scene
We take it scene by scene
We play it scene by scene
Like a picture show
Talk about winter
Honey, it‘s been so cold
I remember the summer
Feels like a long time ago
Now your bones are getting thinner
Seas are getting deeper
Your cold is getting dinner
And your bleed won‘t stone
With the gates sure to bust
Bells holding back chime
Oil ready on the rust
Waiting only for a sign
And it’s brick by brick
Stone by stone
Chime by chime
Bone by bone
And it’s a scene by scene
We take it scene by scene
We play it scene by scene
Like a picture show

River Of Peace
04:11
|
|

Early one morning when Adam said to Eve
‘I don’t know why you gotta treat me so mean
God knows that you don’t actually mean that
Now tell me that you love me ‘fore I take my rib back’
And Eve says, ‘Jeez babe, you ain’t seen me mean
You need to be a little more tough at the seams
You gotta stop treating me so soft
A touch of mean babe, sometimes pays off’
Late one night while Eve was asleep
Adam took a ride down the river of peace
A face so dead and still and smooth
Soon came alive with shards of the moon
At the edge of the water was a fire glowing hot and mean
It was the holiest God-damned fire Adam had ever seen
‘Tell me Fire what way I gotta walk?’
Fire had an answer for Adam but it couldn’t talk
Eve woke up and Adam he wasn’t there
God was looking at a cup tryna fill it up
The river rose high and a shiver began to blow
Eve arose to her feet said, ‘I believe we gotta go’

If I Were A Spot Of Dust
04:37
|
|

If I were a Persian cat
I’d sit and purr and get fat
I’d pick a spot that ‘longed to me
And I’d never give it back
Wouldn’t it be quite a lovely thrill
To never have to pay a single bill
If I were an automobile
I’d miss being able to feel
But I’d only need to turn the wheel
To know that I’m alive
Wouldn’t it be just a little weird
To be made of nuts and bolts and gears?
If I were an automobile
I’d miss being able to feel
If I were a telescope
I’d focus on a planet and hope
Whoever’s looking back at us
Don’t also have a pope
Wouldn’t it be a very wonderful fright
To look out and see a whole new sight?
If I were a telescope
I’d focus on a planet and hope
If I were a beam of light
I think that I just might
Choose someone who wants to leave
And make them out of sight
Wouldn’t you have quite a lot to say
Born a hundred million miles away?
If I were a beam of light
I think that I just might
If I were a spot of dust
I’d do what dust must
I’d live life day to day
Shelf to shelf and gust to gust
And if I find a place
Where I could settle down
I’d form a little rock and roll band
And be the coolest spot of dust in town

Venezia In The Rain
05:47
|
|
||
I must have offered it a thousand times
I recall when that was hard to do
It never turned into a tired rhyme
But stayed the core of something ever new
Through terracotta avenues
And sailing alleyways
Ghosts in temples
And bridges for days
Roma in ruin, Venezia in the rain
All behind her eye
We stayed away from the faith empire
Smoked cigarettes to a lyres strum
It got so hot their holy tram caught fire
We were riding with the God of the sun
Through terracotta avenues
And sailing alleyways
With stray cat rulers in a masquerade
Roma in ruin, Venezia in the rain
100 taxis on the grand canal
Sweep the last of the golden leaves
Into cracks and holes and fine hotels
Every window glowing on the sea
Terracotta avenues
And sailing alleyways
Ghosts in temples and bridges for days
Stray cat rulers in a masquerade
Roma in ruin, Venezia in the rain
